McCall wraps around the southern shore of Payette Lake, a deep, clear glacial lake ringed by pines. Summer is for boating, swimming and paddling from the town beach; winter brings skiing at Brundage Mountain and the famous Winter Carnival. Ponderosa State Park sits on a peninsula right in the lake.
